My Spiritual Journey to End Perfectionism (Posted July 18, 2006) Yesterday I went to an appointment with Rhonda Lenair, the medical intuitive I credit with being the catalyst for my recovery. This visit was a little different from usual because the night before I had picked up a client to come with me to visit Rhonda. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You have succeeded where others have failed. You have done what no other person, place or organization could do for me. You have allowed me freedom from addiction.
You have taken what I consider to be the worst case of alcoholism, the most treatment-resistant, non-yielding manifestation of the “disease” I have ever known (mine) and given me a breath and a chance to breathe.
I have been in recovery since 1993 and I’ve done the work faithfully, but it’s been either 1) on a good day, simple misery or 2) on a bad day, pain beyond imagining. So you have no idea how much of a relief you provided.

My road to a new beginning took some unexpected turns. My story begins when I was 11 or 12 years old and had my first taste of beer when working on my uncles farms and continued for the next fifty years! The love and desire of beer was becoming ever more a part of my life the past 5 years as physical impairments and surgeries increased and the pain continued. Drinking made it bearable. Part of my daily routine was deciding where I had to go and what package store I would go by on my way home from work.
Then last year as my wife and I contemplated our yearly vacation to our timeshare on the island of Saint Maarten we thought that it would be a nice change to visit one of the other islands that are part of our timeshare’s package. After talking to various friends and others, we decided on the island of Aruba…
Now for that unexpected turn in the road that led to the end of my dependency on beer. Unbeknownst to me, my wife had heard conversations by a couple of ladies she was sitting with on the beach about their wanting to stop smoking. My meeting with Rhonda was a life altering experience that you who have first-hand knowledge can relate to it. I know I am not the first and will not be the last to say ‘That it was as if a light switch was turned off’. That is how dramatic the results were. I now have no desire, need or want to drink alcohol.
